Hive Open Mic

Our Austin-based live music community is the continuation of a historic music movement that started in 2020, at a time when the live music scene was β€œdead.” Over the years, our virtual event showcased ~100 musicians to ~1000 listeners every single week, hosted on the Hive Blockchain. After over 180+ consecutive weeks of online Hive Open Mic events, our in-person event offers an exciting new way to express and connect.

A personal greeting from Hive Open Mic founder and host: Cabe Lindsay

Global Harmony is Our Mission.
World Peace is Our Vision.

Music is a universal language, uniting musicians and listeners around the world in a shared appreciation of the arts. Our online community boasts rich cultural diversity with a variety of ethnic groups, languages, and traditions. In fact, Nigeria and Venezuela are the two nations with our greatest participation rates, with fantastic cross-pollination between these hives. Bzzzreee!

Music is a mystical force. Beyond the song lyrics and melody, we find a frequency that moves us on a vibrational level. Live music is real, raw, and relatable. While prerecorded music has its charms, live music arrives with charisma, through authentic artistry and elements of surprise. Each performance is one-of-a-kind in its spontaneity, emotional intensity, and interplay between artist and audience. The fret buzz only adds to the mystique.

What Makes Our Community Unique?

Hive Open Mic upholds the traditional open mic format, providing a stage, spotlight, and microphone. Our event is not a contest; it is a weekly community concert of live music performances. In a special effort to make live music available to the masses, we offer media production services as a free service, supporting musicians through professional photos and videos.

The greatest gift we can give to an artist is our attention. For this reason, we humbly ask that our artists also participate in the audience. We practice generous listening. We offer applause. And we reward musicians with encouraging words. Our comments might be the vital voice that gives a musician the wings to fly, or the gills to dive deep!

Our live music events include a special performance by a Spotlight Artist. This gives the audience a glimpse of excellence that happens here, while also giving us a chance to acknowledge the exemplary talent. It’s all about generating gratitude, inspiring music lovers to express and connect. Viva to the music lovers! Viva!

In the Hive Open Mic community, every event is an inspiring musical journey. Here, musicians bring their gifts to the stage, and their recordings reach around the world. Listeners gain human connection on levels of heart and mind, including people of various cultures and languages. This is the harmonizing power of music. May the harmonizing power of music generate peace around the world. So bee it. 🐝
